Black-eyed peas are a New Year’s Day tradition in the South. Peas are often cooked with pork or with collard greens, but we like ’em this way! We make this dip all year round, but it is especially welcomed on New Year’s Day. Eating black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day is thought bring good luck in the New Year!
Printchunky black-eyed pea salsa

Ingredients
- 2 cans black eyed peas, drained and rinsed
- 1 can white corn, drained and rinsed
- 1 can Rotel original
- 1 can petite diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 4 green onions, diced
- 2 jalapenos, seeded and diced
- ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 small bottle Wishbone Italian Dressing
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients except dressing. Mix well. Add dressing.
- Stir to combine. Chill for at least one hour. Serve with chips.
- This dip keeps in the refrigerator for several days.
