It’s time for the peppermint bark y’all!! It is a good thing that homemade peppermint bark is SO EASY to make because everyone at our house has a different personal preference of either dark, milk or semi-sweet chocolate, so it’s ALL in our pantry at this time of year, ready to make at a moment’s notice. Peppermint bark is great to gift to friends. A gift of peppermint bark is welcomed by anyone! This bark keeps for a week in an airtight container. But, the great thing about peppermint bark is that you can use it for things such as – ice cream topping or, our personal favorite —  drop some in your hot chocolate or coffee!

As far as the chocolate goes, you can use pretty much any kind of chips that your local grocery store sells. Nestle’s chips are often our go-to!

Ingredients

  • 12 oz semi-sweet, dark or milk chocolate chips (pick your favorite)
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 12 oz white chocolate chips
  • 5 candy canes, crushed

Instructions

  1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the semi-sweet, dark or milk chocolate in a double boiler on stove top (a glass bowl can be used over a pan of boiling water).
  3. Stir constantly, add peppermint extract, and remove from heat just before fully melted.
  4. Stir vigorously until all pieces are melted. Spread the chocolate on parchment paper into a rectangle, approximately 10 x 12.
  5. Refrigerate until set, about 15-20 minutes. Melt white chocolate in double boiler.
  6. Spread over dark chocolate. Sprinkle candy canes over white chocolate.
  7. Allow to harden. Break into pieces or cut with sharp knife.
