We love a good pulled chicken in the South. And white barbecue sauce? Say no more. Think tender, juice pulled chicken breast, smothered in a creamy white sauce on a buttery brioche roll. Add a few pickles, if you’d like, and you have a winner!

Ingredients

For the pulled chicken sandwiches

  • 6 chicken breast halves
  • 1 shallot, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablesoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth

For homemade white barbecue sauce

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise or full fat greek yogurt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

Instructions

For the pulled chicken sandwiches

  1. Place chicken breasts in slow cooker. Sprinkle shallots on top. In a separate bowl, mix butter, oil paprika, garlic, salt and pepper. Pour over chicken breasts. Cook on low heat for 5 hours.
  2. After the first hour of cooking, flip breasts over and add chicken broth.
  3. After the 5th hour of cooking, remove chicken and shred with two forks, chicken should pull apart easily.
  4. Return to slow cooker and heat through. Once heated through, remove from slow cooker, place on bun and drizzle white bbq sauce over meat.

For homemade white barbecue sauce

  1. Mix thoroughly
  2. Serve with sandwiches. Enjoy!
